Experiential Learning

Experiential Learning is the process of learning by doing. By engaging students in hands-on experiences and reflection, they are better able to connect skills and knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world situations.
When children participate in experiential education opportunities, they gain:
  • A better understanding of what they are taught by experiencing things first hand
  • A broader view of the world and an appreciation of local community and the wider world
  • Insight into their own skills, interests, beliefs, and values
  • Opportunities to collaborate and build resilience
  • Develop self-confidence and leadership skills
At Hendal we have many opportunities for hands on experiences throughout the curriculum. This includes opportunities to explore artefacts, use concrete materials for mathematics, opportunities to bake and cook, times to explore our wonderful outdoor areas and gardens, visit an educational place each term, have visits from theatre groups and much more.
We understand the value of providing our children with many experiences to help share their learning and their education and development whilst at Hendal.
