Hendal Primary School admits pupils at the beginning of the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms into Lower Foundation. We have a 39 place Nursery and offer 15 hour sessions which are either mornings or afternoon sessions. We do have sixteen places for 30 hours for children that are entitled. For a Nursery Place please speak to the school office as we manage this admission process. You will be contacted to arrange a home visit and then be invited to attend FEET (Families Enjoying Everything, Together) the term before your child starts Nursery.
Children then move into Upper Foundation at the Autumn term before their 5th birthday. To apply for a full time place you must contact Wakefield LA Admissions on 01924 305616. If the School is over-subscribed, Wakefield LA Admissions criteria will be used to determine further admissions. Please look out for our open evenings where you and your child can visit the school to see the EYFS provision. If you are unable to attend then please contact the school office and we will be happy to arrange a time for you to visit that suits you.
After you have been informed that your child has been offered a place at Hendal, you will receive information regarding starting school. A number of visits are arranged for you and your child, which provide an opportunity for you to talk to the Early Years Foundation Stage staff and the Headteacher. It also allows you and your child time to visit the Early Years Foundation Stage classrooms. As part of our transition we invite your child for a stay and play, we then invite you to join your child for a school dinner together. There will be a parent’s welcome meeting where you will receive a detailed transition pack with all of the information you need. Your child will receive a transition board with photos of key staff so that you can share this with your child before they start at Hendal.
